Important Information about Seeking Care after SCI

A spinal cord injury (SCI) can be complex. It doesn't happen to as many people compared to a stroke or heart disease. Because of this, it can be hard to find doctors and places that specialize in SCI in some towns. It's important to find hospitals and clinics with services just for people with SCI [link to choosing a rehab facility section]. Don't be scared to ask your doctors and nurses about their experience helping people with SCI and for help to find places with SCI specialized care. If it's hard to find SCI specialized care, you can get help by calling the United Spinal Association Resource Center.

Types of Healthcare Institutions You May Encounter after SCI

Types of healthcare institutions you may encounter include Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation Facilities, Long Term Acute Care Hospitals, and Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNF).
